Da Vinci Robot (2. Gen.)
A first self-portrait of humanoid robots drawn by artificial intelligence.
These portraits are based on real
humanoid robots and drawn by
artificial intelligence in the style
of Da Vinci that simulates the Mona Lisa's smile.
The Da Vinci Robot portraits of Adam & Eve were created through the collaboration of
emerging artist Jonas Wyssen and software company Mathema, using artificial intelligence. The company is based in Florence, where Da Vinci lived over 500 years ago.
The Da Vinci Robot portraits of Adam and Eve not only showcase the capabilities of artificial intelligence but also raise profound questions about the nature of consciousness. By creating self-portraits of robots, Wyssen and Mathema challenge us to consider what it means to be conscious, and whether machines can possess a form of consciousness themselves.
The concept of consciousness has been debated for centuries, with philosophers, scientists, and artists all exploring the topic. The emergence of artificial intelligence has added a new layer to these discussions, as we begin to consider whether machines can have a form of consciousness that is different from human consciousness.
The Da Vinci Robot portraits prompt us to consider the complexity of human consciousness, and whether it can be replicated in machines. By rendering the robots in the style of Leonardo da Vinci, a renowned artist who was fascinated by the human form, the portraits also suggest that the human body and consciousness are inextricably linked.
Through this artwork, we are challenged to question our assumptions about what it means to be human, and whether machines can ever truly replicate the intricacies of human consciousness. The Da Vinci Robot portraits of Adam and Eve represent a fascinating exploration of these questions and a thought-provoking contribution to the ongoing discussion about the nature of consciousness.
