        Die Serie Hard Rock (und die damit verbundene Star Dust) umfasst handbearbeitete Steine aus dem Wallis: Marmor aus Saillon sowie Allalin-Gabbro, Adular und Aragonit. Jede Skulptur wurde vom Künstler sorgfältig von Hand bearbeitet und scheint schwerelos in einer samtbezogenen Halbkugel zu schweben, gefangen zwischen physischer Präsenz und optischer Illusion. Ein gravierter QR-Code auf dem Stein führt den Betrachter zu einer digitalen Animation, in der sich das massive, schwere Material langsam auflöst und schwerelos wird – ein stiller, fast meditativer Moment des Loslassens und der Transformation.
        Entstanden im Rahmen des ART Pro Förderprogramms für Emerging Artists des Kantons Wallis, sucht die Arbeit einen bewussten physischen Ausgleich zur rein digitalen künstlerischen Praxis. Sie stellt das Uralte und Schwere der heimischen Walliser Landschaft dem Flüchtigen und Virtuellen gegenüber. Durch diesen Dialog zwischen geologischer Zeit und digitaler Auflösung markiert Jonas Wyssen seinen Weg zum Hybrid Artist, der analoge Materie und digitale Prozesse nicht trennt, sondern bewusst miteinander verbindet.
Die Arbeiten aus Allalin-Gabbro, Adular und Aragonit wurden 2023 vom Kanton Wallis für das Musée d’art du Valais angekauft und sind in der Gruppenausstellung «Les grands espaces» (06.04.2025 – 11.01.2026) zu sehen.
            
The Hard Rock (and related Star Dust) series comprises hand-carved stones from the Valais region: marble from Saillon as well as Allalin gabbro, adularia and aragonite. Each sculpture has been carefully carved by the artist and appears to float weightlessly within a velvet-lined hemisphere, suspended between physical presence and optical illusion. An engraved QR code on the stone leads the viewer to a digital animation in which the massive, heavy material slowly dissolves and becomes weightless — a quiet, almost meditative moment of letting go and transformation.
        Created as part of the ART Pro grant for Emerging Artists of the Canton of Valais, the work seeks a deliberate physical counterbalance to purely digital artistic practice. It confronts the ancient and heavy materiality of the local Valais landscape with the fleeting and virtual. Through this dialogue between geological time and digital dissolution, Jonas Wyssen marks his path toward a hybrid artistic practice that no longer separates analogue matter from digital processes, but consciously connects them.
The pieces in Allalin gabbro, adularia and aragonite were acquired in 2023 by the Canton of Valais for the Musée d’art du Valais and are on view in the group exhibition «Les grands espaces» (06.04.2025 – 11.01.2026).
